Traveling with a pet requires preparation. Here's what you need to know before your trip.
Before the trip
Visit the vet - check-up, vaccinations, passport, microchip. Find out the requirements of the destination (vaccinations, quarantine, documents). Insurance - is the pet insured for the trip?
Car trip
The pet must be securely restrained - cage, seat belt harness, net. Never leave an animal alone in a car, especially in warm weather. Stop regularly - walk, water, toilet. Do not eat immediately before driving.
Air travel
Check the airline's requirements - some allow small animals in the cabin, larger ones must go in the hold. A suitable transport cage is required. Check the rules and book in advance.
Accommodation
Check that the hotel or accommodation is pet-friendly. Find out about premiums and rules. Bring your pet's bed, blankets, toys - they create a sense of security.
Pack it with you
Food, water bottles, food dishes, leash, collar with tag, toiletries, first aid kit, favorite toy, copy of vaccination passport, vet contact.
At the destination
Observe the pet's behavior - a new environment can cause stress. Keep him on a leash at first so he doesn't get lost. Research local vets and pet-friendly places.
