Introduction
A children's room should be safe, functional and inspiring. Here are the instructions.
Safety first
Secure the furniture to the wall to prevent it from falling. Use corner protectors for sharp corners. Sockets should be childproof. Windows should have safe opening stops.
Materials
Choose natural, non-toxic materials - wood, organic cotton, water-based paints. Avoid tiles containing formaldehyde and toxic paints.
Functional zones
Divide the room into zones - sleeping, playing, studying (for school children), storing clothes. Clear boundaries help the child to focus.
Storage
Low shelves, boxes, baskets - children should be able to pick up and put away their own things. Label the boxes with pictures so the toddler knows what goes where.
Encouraging creativity
Leave space on the wall for drawing (board paint or a large roll of paper). Store art supplies in an accessible location. Choose bright colors and patterns that inspire.
Lighting
Soft general lighting, readable night lamp, dim light for gaming. Natural light if possible.
