You have found a washing machine and arranged a van. Then the seller mentions that the transport fixings disappeared during a previous move. Resolve that question before collection day: an attractive price does not tell you whether the appliance is ready to travel.
Start with the machine, not a generic video
Ask for a readable photograph of the appliance identification plate and a separate photograph of the rear. Find the manufacturer's manual for that exact model. Check the model reference inside the document, rather than relying on a similar-looking cover or the first search result.
Save the relevant transport and installation pages on your phone. If the manual covers several versions, identify which instructions apply. Ask the manufacturer's support team when the distinction is unclear; a seller's memory is not a substitute for the correct procedure.
Match the loose parts to the instructions
Bosch recommends refitting transport bolts for a long move. Ask the seller to lay out the retained parts beside the manual's illustration and photograph them clearly. Compare the complete set shown for this machine, including any associated pieces. Do not assume every washer uses the same number or type of fixings.
If something is missing, establish the correct replacement part and availability before booking transport. Do not substitute a bolt from a household toolbox because its thread appears to fit. A bag labelled with another model needs checking, even if the parts look familiar.
Agree who prepares the machine
Write down who will follow the transport instructions and when. Ask for confirmation that preparation is complete before you set off. If neither person can confidently follow the manual, arrange qualified help or postpone collection. Photograph the prepared appliance and keep the parts list with the purchase messages.
Separate transport from first use
At the destination, use the model's installation checklist before running any programme. Never run the washer with transport protection installed: Miele identifies it as a cause of vibration. Keep removed parts in a labelled bag for the next move. If the machine's configuration does not match the manual, stop and clarify it rather than testing a spin cycle to see what happens.
