Introduction
Painting the walls is one of the easiest ways to update a room. Here's a guide on how to do it.
1. Preparation
Cover floors and furniture with protective film. Remove the socket and switch covers. Clean the walls from dust and dirt. Repair holes and cracks with putty, sand while dry.
2. Choice of color
Choose a suitable color - matte (covers well, hides unevenness), glossy (easier to clean, suitable for kitchen, bathroom). Consider the light of the room - a light color makes the room bigger, a dark one cozier.
3. Required quantity
Calculate the area of the walls (height x width, dissolve windows and doors). One liter of paint is enough to cover approximately 8-12 m² (depending on the color and the substrate). Two coats are usually necessary.
4. Masking tape
Apply masking tape to the edges - to the ceiling, corners, window frames, doors. Press the tape tightly so that the paint does not run down.
5. Priming
If the wall is uneven, absorbs a lot or is dark, use a primer. This improves paint adhesion and reduces paint consumption.
6. Coloring
Start at the edges with a brush - on the ceiling, in corners, around windows and doors. Then use the roller for large areas - paint crosswise (horizontally and vertically) for even coverage. Do not overload the roller with paint.
7. Second layer
Allow the first coat to dry completely (see manufacturer's instructions). Then apply the second layer in the same way.
8. Termination
Carefully remove the masking tape before the paint dries completely. Wash brushes and rollers immediately after use.
